Due to the large turn out of riders and supporters most of you know how today went, more so than me, considering I was dropped on the first lap. Not so sure if the big ring really is suitable for some of those hills, after the first sizeable lump I was to say goodbye to the pack and the good times. Next year I will have a different big ring ratio, or I would be using the the smaller one, or maybe I will just be fitter, who knows. Anyway if you check www.paulbyrnephotography.fotopic.net/ there are some photos. Now I must go and get ready for a serious bout of secret training tomorrow so that hopefully I can keep up for at least a few more miles in the next race.

At least you give it a go Richard. That first lump can be a bit of a tester. if you start the climb near the back and they up the speed near the top you can find yourself with a lot of work to do. Myself and John Ruddell went off the back at the same place on lap 2. Darren hit problems before that when his chain dropped off to the inside on only making a mess of the frame but twisting the chain meaning it jumped when he applied pressure. Marcus, David S. and Nigel were way off the back but seen it through to the end. Stevy was just off the group for most of the race keeping pace with them which if very good going. Ronnie and Davy were the only 2 from 9 Dromara starters to keep with the group with Ronnie taking a creditable 8th and Davy taking to lying on the road with cramp.
Well done to all for turning out to the hardest race on the calendar and thanks to the ladies for the shouts of support. Maeve will be hoarse for of a week!

Yes at least you gave it a go Richard-more than I did, and going by my performance on "the lumpy bits" had I managed to stay in the bunch that far, then it would definitely have ended my day! Yes bit of a cold one too, well done all.
Are you going to start counting teeth and measuring crank lengths now!!??

I see Mr Weir was giving it 'the eye of the tiger' to the camera. Also just an Fyi my Brother is getting married this coming weekend so I will be in Scotland from Thursday through to Monday. What with all the Tour of the North excitment I am sure no one will even notice I am gone but just in case anyone think's I am running scared on Thursday night or the like.
