A damp but dry night did not harden the spirits of the racers and spectators who came to watch the Lurgan Festival of cycling hosted by Clann Eireann Cycling Club. The night started of with the Youth section with the Novices doing 1 lap and my race, the under 12s, doing 2 laps. I had a good start and was in 3rd place going into the first corner which was a sharp right baled with hay bales as a safety precaution as this was slippy. I sat with Mark Downey and Dan Runciman for the 1 1/2 lap until being passed by the Irish Champion Ciara Mulholland and many other racers. After being passed by 4 others, I attacked at the last minute passing those other 4 and ending up 3 bike lengths behind Declan Mulholland (Clann Eireann) leaving me 8th overall out of 14 (I think; i'll let you know) A great race with some tough competition. Next came the seniors, with Ronnie and Darren showing off the Dromara Colours ;D with 45 minutres plus 5 laps. They set off at a good start and did really well to stay in the front with Ronnie and Darren always well up the pack. At one stage Darren was leading and then Ronnie leading which ended with Ronnie 2nd and Darren finishing in 7th or 8th ;D A really fast race with speed averaging 24 mph Well done lads showing off the Dromara spirit and a good nights craic.
