Peter B took Marcus to Lagan Valley as a precaution(minor cuts, bruises & complaining of sore ribs), they were in for a wait at casualty. When I got home & changed I then went to the hospital to let Peter away. When i got there Marcus hadn't been in to casualty but he seemed in good spirits and was talking about riding on Saturday. His wife and family were at the hospital by this stage so I only stayed briefly. hopefully he is OK. He was more concerned about the damage to the Rav 4 & his bike!! This incident aside, a few observations on last night. When we were riding through Hillsborough on the way to the TT we were all over the road , cars couldn't get past, lets ride with a bit of discipline folks, i.e.single or two rows. When we turned left into the road with the tunnel not one person indicated , remember not everyone knows where we are going and other traffic certainly has no idea where we are going At the race start area we need to ensure that everyone is off the road. This is busy enough and the traffic has only one side of the road to use. (It is narrow, as the starters car, for safety, takes up one side of the road) Warming up should take place on out the course and if you want to chat make sure your bike and yourself are off the road. Rant over; ;D Well done to Bob who had a difficult job timekeeping & ensuring everyone started at their allotted slot sorry about that Bob.

Things could have turned out a lot worse last night. Luckily Marcus has no serious injuries, just a bit stiff and sore. As for the bike the only damage is a paint chip on a fork leg. As Stephen said will have to see more discipline in the start area. I parked the car directly behind the start to shelter the bikes. It should have helped but it had some negative effect effects like cars not seeing the bikes till they were passing and the riders having to go round it to get to the line. That did not excuse Matthew P and Ben McK for standing outside the car and having to be told more than once to move. We need a couple of cones instead of the car. That will mean cars can get a better view and starters can move up the inside. Anyone else standing about will have to stay off the road. There is normally plenty of room. Also for safety any youth doing 5 mile will be starting at the back or in front of anyone arriving late or missing their start time. So make sure you are in there in time or you may end up stuck behind cars stuck behind some of the slower riders.

Matthew and Bill went off at the same time as Dennis but stopped to let a tractor past.
When Marcus started he came behind 2 cars which were behind Bill and Matthew. the front car turned right as he was overtaking it. Marcus had thought it was indicating to overtake Bil and Matthew.

Though I wasn't there I support Stevie's comments. It's important when out as a club we act within the law and set a good example to others. One should keep to the left (though not in the gutter), ride no more than two abreast, give clear signals prior to turns and obey all road signs such as traffic lights.
I wanted to be there but got aero bar parts at 3.30pm and had to fit them (base bar, cables, shifters etc) before the TT so not the best preparation.
Glad to hear Marcus is ok. Will be out tomorrow morning myself.
