Cycling Ulster Team Named For St Patrick's Classic
Following the John Haldane Memorial at Hilltown last week, Noel Gallagher (Road Commission), made the selection for the Cycling Ulster Team for the Armagh-Downpatrick race next Sunday. Noel along with Tommy Lamb made the selection based on overall performance and agressive riding. It was not an easy choice as a number of riders camne into the frame under this criteria. The team were named as:- Tim Edgar S2 (XMTB) Simon Williams S2 (Orchard Wheelers) Paul Vaughan S2 (Maryland Wheelers) David Mc Knight S3 (Dromara CC) David Wright S3 (Phoenix CC)
A number of other riders also caught the selectors' eyes. Among these were Peter Mc Sorley (Apollo) and Paul Brady (Emyvale CC). Stephen Baines (East Antrim CC), Ronnie Smyth and Darren Weir(Dromara CC), John Neil (Phoenix CC) and Uel Cunningham (Team Bib Sports) who were all impressive in their agressive style of riding, never being far off the front of the bunch driving things along.
The team are asked to be at the sign on an hour before the event to collect clothing and to have a team talk. Noel Gallagher will act as manager and will be assisted by Paul Williams.
Cycling Ulster wishes them the best of luck.
