Cold, clear, misty and cold, the roads were greasy after an early frost, which hopefully put an end to those d**n February Midges.
Ronnie, Davy, Darren, Peter J and Peter B out, Stevie Baines in full Audi Kit as well. Two Peters went in the early group, maybe 100 bikes worth, not a bad run round the penninsula, sun breaking through and everything staying together until after Ballywalter, raised drains brought one bike down and another and two more got tangled. I heard it as I was about five bikes up, not a good noise. Fairly unavoidable one of those large double drain covers on the inside of the road, hard to see and as slippy as ice. By all accounts those affected sustained face, arm and hand injuries, hope they recover soon.
The result was the 10:00, faster group caught the main bunch and people headed off in small groups. I got in a group of about twenty that stayed together into Bangor and through the roundabouts onto the Belfast road and then out towards Craigantlet before turning back to Ards. A good run 54 miles at an average of just over 19.
