Was looking on the interweb at the sky ride etape hibernia. Had thought about this run last year but didn't get the chance. Anybody thinking of giving this closed road event a rattle this year? Entry fee is 54 euros. I think Johnny Mowat and I are gonna give it a blarge. By all accounts it's a good event. The cycling plus gave it a pretty favourable write up in one of it's issues for last years run.

I did it last year Doc. Really well organised and a great route with closed roads. Only criticism is that it's quite expensive (including travelling down and staying over) and last year you didn't get anything other than your entry for the money (no t shirt etc). But definitely a good run.

Cheers clydie, might give this a whirl. Hows those old bones of yours healing? Still getting plenty of TLC from the other half I hope.

I did the inaugural event last year. On the plus side it is somewhere I had never been to before and it was great to cycle on closed roads and the locals came out to cheer the competitors from start to finish. The down side is the travelling time and the extra costs (at least 1 night but more likely 2 nights accomodation) etc. Also note - the organisers do not provide food at the refreshment stops during the event - only water and gels from sponsor Zipfit - you need to bring your own solid food e.g. energy/protein bars.
