What was everyone up to this weekend? I was staying in Ballycastle and on the Sat. we went over to rathlin to do some walking - fantastic weather, and surprisingly there was a very well supported 10K run in progress when we arrived. On Sunday I decided to cycle home Ballycastle to Annahilt via the coast road, again great weather and for the coastal part of the journey i had the wind in my favour. To avoid Larne I headed inland at Ballygalley but unfortunatley i made a wrong turn and after going over a few unscheduled hills I still ended up in Larne! took back roads from Larne to Ballyclare, Glengormley,, belfast & home. and of course just when you are most fatigued the breeze changed to a w/sw. A thoroughly enjoyable cycle, although the last hour was a struggle, I made it 80 miles by my speedo, although I do not know how accurate it is.

The Hairy Bears, John and Ronnie were racing this weekend. As Bill said I went to Inishowen. The scenery fantastic and I had great craic cycling with Anne, Kenny and Rodger. Other than that ...... the Inishowen was very disappointing. I don't think they put as much effort into organising the event as we did organising the Mourne Sportive. This event is marketed as a Lesiure ride with no ambitious time limits. As such, I think it is unreasonable that the organisers were openly cajoling riders into taking short cuts. Our Hilly/ Sportive was much better organised for the same price - food and hospitality was alot better.

Meave I think it is disgraceful that you should be the subject of that kind of attitude from people who are part of the organisation. I hope Foyle CC have read this thread and distance themselves by posting some sort of an apology. I noticed quite a few of their members at the Stortive and I am quite sure that they weren't told to take a short cut or whatever. Anyway I hear you don't entertain short cuts......its taking a wrong turn and doing more miles that you are into Stevie Phoenix CC
