Matthew and Jordan were buzzing about the race.
They didn't do too bad either at 3rd in their age classes considering Jordan has just turned 10, up against 11 year olds and Matthew still recovering from a broken ankle. Add to that they arrived just in time to start after forgetting their helmets, so much for a warm-up!
Matthew took my advice and opted for a road bike rather than the recommended MTB. This worked well to his advantage after finishing the first leg of the run near the back. By the end of the cycle he was in the lead but dropped back to 3rd on the final run. Plenty of potential considering he represented his school in the past xc running.
Jordan had to be content with her heavy MTB but showed what she is capable of. This is only her 2nd competitive race after her 2nd at the last xc race. Hope her equestrian interests don't get in the way of the xc races in the near future like Castlewellan next Sunday.

Bob .... there is a class photo of your nephew and niece on www.triathlonireland.com/gallery/album54?page=1Last page of slide show - I don't know how to attach it onto this website. Also - there are photos of the Mc Kelvey boys, Matthew and Jorden in action - pure determination on their faces . The Dromara children get a special mention in the report
