I've been thinking of joining a club for a while but just haven't got round to it however I was just wondering could someone clarify when the Cycling Ireland licenses run from?
I ask because I notice that there is a special offer for first time CI leisure members that has run all year and according to Cycling Ulster's website the same will apply next year so it would seem a silly idea at this stage to join any club as I wouldn't get the best use out of it. However wondering when would be a good time to join in order to maximise the benefits of it ;D.
In other words does the CI registration run Jan-Dec or is there some other timeframe?
I also note that CU recommend that clubs don't apply a club charge on top of the promotional price. Do you have a club levy on top of this? I only ask out of interest as club fees aren't that expensive so it wouldn't really put me off but would just like to know anyway.

Roaddrone CI licences do run Jan - Dec (roughly!) but with a little leeway. The 2009 insurance coverage does you until the end of January 2010. You can take out a 2010 licence now (actually from the end of November). However, we are (all) just waiting for CI to get their new web site up and running to allow us to process the forms. The benefits of joining a club v staying unattached is summarised on our webpage www.dromaracc.co.uk/Membership/membership.htm. Hopefully this will give you more information. On a side note, we were all out at our xmas bash on Friday night which was a great success and would be definitely be one of the reasons you could put forward for "Why should I join a cycling club". A real sense of belonging! We do welcome the introductory offer for the non-competition (leisure) licence for 2010, but can I clarify, have you had a CI licence in the past? If yes, you are unfortunately not entitled to this introductory offer. On the other hand, CI have reduced their standard non-competition licence fee this year. Follow the link from the above webpage to find out the fees. Bottom line is, if you are interested in joining a club, give Trevor a call to chat about all the above. On Sunday he will be busy setting up and running the trail quest but after that give him a shout (or send him an email trevor@dromaracc.co.uk as it is so much easier to discuss your questions/apprehensions that via a message board! Hope this helps. Regards Martin

Thanks Martin I got an email from Trevor giving me his contact details. Christmas build up got in the way at work and any plans I had of joining any club before Christmas went by the wayside.
Anyway I agree it is probably much easier to discuss this with a call so will contact Trevor next month when things settle down again.
I have never held any type of CI licence so the cheapy leisure licence should be available to me.
Apologies for the delay in responding. Just bad timing on my part but then I should have known better given the time of year ;D
