EMERGENCY ACTION REQUIRED - before Thursday 12th November 2009 - Belfast Council is considering applying for a grant from the EU to build a foot and cycle bridge over the River Lagan from the Gasworks to Ormeau Park. This will be a tremendous asset to the cycle network, linking to the successful riverside paths in the city sections of National Cycle Network and will avoid the busy Albert and Ormeau Road bridges for many journeys. This idea for the bridge was first initiated in 2005 with little progress to date. By close of working hours on Wed 11th we need email support from hundreds of cyclists to encourage Belfast City Council to apply for the EU grant. Please forward this email to all of your cycling friends. Follow this link to the Belfast Cycle City website and you are just two clicks away from e-mailing Belfast City Council Chief Executive with your voice of support.
