It was like the Tour de France today ...... huge pelaton of Dromara riders cruising up the Mourne Mountains .... ;D (10 in total!) Great turn out today: Killyleagh Peter, Big Davy ( specialised bike), Rocket Ronnie, Deek ( 1st tt champion), Hairy Bear Stevie on Bianchie, Hairy Red Bear Davy and me left Dromara at 9:30am ... the craic was great until we hit Dree Hill .... then I stopped talking ( yes it is possible ! ) and started to pant and puff over Dree hill while the rest of lads made it look easy....... then we headed to Windy Gap to Leitrim and to Castlewellan where we said 'Tarrah' to Killyleagh Peter. We rode into Kilcoo where Bianchie Stevie then had a food stop ........ and now I know the secret to climbing hills... it's not High 5, Lucozade or Power Bars .................................................. it is Big greasy sausage rolls with red sauce ...... then headed direct up Spelga .....met Bill, young Ben and Neal (new bloke) coming the opposite direction ...... Ben wasn't even out of breath and he had just climbed Spelga! .... Had a chat with them - all enjoying their cycling... if I had organised it better we all should have hooked up on the bikes on Spelga going same direction ( sorry about that)..... anyway .. then after we climbed Spelga Davy decided he wanted Chocolate cake and Tea ... he twisted my arm .... (that was difficult ..not! : and we headed back down the road to Meelemore ;D.... The racing laddies were last seen going down Spelga zoom, zoom ........ After grub myself and Davy headed towards Bryansford and home. I did 60 miles, so happy days. ;D It was a great day and I'm so so delighted everyone went out, enjoyed their cycle and had a bit of craic too!! Hope everyone has a lovely weekend cycling / good luck lads if your'e racing Maeve
