Stewart and I are going to start the tow path runs on Thursday night. Start time 7 pm. Meet in the Civic Centre car park as usual. Gentle run so as not to knock over any pedestrians. Also an opportunity to test the lights. Open to all to join us. Post here or send me a text. Need to know how many cups to bring for the coffee

Bit of excitement around the Civic Centre on Thursday night. Police present very visible. They wouldn't even let Stewart come in on his bike from the main carriageway. They were happy to let us go to the tow path. More police in the car park etc + snipers on the roof. Well apart from that excitement Stewart and I toddled off along the path at a nice easy pace, still daylight with plenty of walkers and dogs out. Decided to skip any off road excursions and headed to the Weir instead. Stewart had a new helmet light which a flash option which had the walkers thinking their was an emergency vehicle coming behind (or police on mtbs). As we turned back we both had the lights on and it started to get cold. We were both in shorts, summer shoes and gloves etc and we both agreed that these would not be used on their own again on the path!!! On the way back we couldn't help ourselves so we had to take on the climb up to Malone House. Still tough Down through the trees, around the track and out past the BMX jumps to the path. Back for around 9. Police had gone. Good first night. I won't be able to make it next Thursday but hope others now start coming in. Any reports / pictures from the Cooley?
