-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi guy's thanks to you all for all the positive reaction to yesterdays run, Re. the dangerous riding, it was a bit mad at times and jockeying for position is one thing but some of the antic's were outrageous, lance and his dromara sidekicks need a severe talking to the way they were carrying on, but their death-rattle coming out of killyleagh was a classic, flying up the outside of the bunch and straight onto a 4d knockout punch. As for you Temple.. as the oldest man in the group I reckon I had a licence to hide with a clear conscience ! but thanks anyway gerry. Big positive for me was that of the twenty odd in the front group at the finish we had 7 from maryland, including 3 vet's and a junior peter wilson. The boot-room led by mervyn and billy knowles deserve all the applause.
WHO DOES LANCE & THE DROMARA SIDEKICKS REFER TO?

WHO DOES LANCE & THE DROMARA SIDEKICKS REFER TO? That would be Ronnie, Darren and co. I would think a well founded complaint.
At the same time given the reputation of these runs most complaints arise out of ass-holes being out ass-holed.

I am also interested in what a "4d knockout punch" is. Sounds like I might be better at that game than climbing!!
Sounds like a lot of people taking things more seriously than they should.

Wouldnt worry about it to much didnt see anything bad. 4d usually means hitting a 4 door or vechile head on!

From what I've seen, a lot of cyclists on the 'faster' club runs around here ride like total nutters.
Thats why I don't do any reliability trials, etc.
What's the racing like ? It can't be the same, surely.

It can't be the same, surely. No, cross country races are the exception. Although the average age is a lot lower they show a more adult attitude than that seen in road races. Last year at this same reliability run I pulled out just after the Quoile bridge near Downpatrick. We were approaching a blind left hand bend and as the wind was coming from 10 oclock direction not one bike was on the left hand side of the road. Add to that the amount of pregnant doging and mouthing on the road and it is hard to undersatnd how anyone could enjoy it.

Tea-stop discussion on Sunday 26th indicates that new club members and older ones that should know better need have some cycling etiquette explained - in private or in our own "Member" forum. The open forum is not the place to make personal remarks about club members. Inter-club complaints such as that with Maryland Wheelers should be sorted out privately on a one-to-one basis between each club's secretary/chairmen.

As I started the thread, I take it this refers to me!!
Cycling etiquette? come on it was only a comment and hardly personal , it didn't name anyone.
All I was doing was drawing attention to what others think/wrote on another website which is probably the largest site in NI.
Surely an open forum is for discussion & comment
There was no malice or intention to offend anyone by bringing the subject up

O h and I was right, as with most things, I would almost certainly be more efficient at hitting a car than climbing!!

I don't think he was getting at you Stephen, could have been any of us. Anyway, to change the subject.. Not sure where the B's are for on Sunday but I thought the A's could head towards Kilbroney, leaving Dromara at 9:30.
