Saturday saw the running of the Belfast based Olympian Triathlon club’s annual Mourne triathlon hosted in Castlewellan Forest Park. www.mournetriathlon.com/ For those of you that don't know what a triathlon consists of a 1500m swim followed by a 40km cycle finished off with a 10k run. The event had an entry of in excess of 400 competitors individual and relay teams with an international field from all over Ireland and beyond with competitors from the USA and South Africa. Neil Currie from Dromara CC was part of the winning relay team “Think Pink” which is a charity team aiming to raise awareness of breast cancer for the Ulster Cancer foundations campaign of the same name. Neil put in a superb cycle leg and the team beat their nearest relay competitors by over 10 minutes and placed a brilliant 11th overall in the entire field of 400 plus competitors. Dromara CC also made an essential contribution to the successful running of the event with Drew Miller from Olympian Triathlon club praising the marshalling of the cycle route by Trevor Annett and a number of other Dromara CC members."
