The routes I posted will not be used tomorrow due to frost. Instead we will stick to treated roads only

Thank you to all for today . It was a super run with great company and delicious stew after. Who could believe that so many would be out on such a cold and frosty morning .

Yes Anne it was great to see so many out, especially given the frost. It is hard to take in just how fast the club is growing to the point that i don't believe there is one member that can put a name to every face! I think it is good that there is no real hierarchy within Dromara or no discipline thinking it should have preference over another, just good banter (the hair bears) and everyone willing to give what ever the club is at a go. It was particularly good to see the "new to cycling out today" The likes or Cryil, Pauline etc, worried in case they were holding the rest back but not realising their being there is what the club run is about. We get more satisfaction out of seeing new faces than trying to aim for a high average speed. As Martin reported there were fallers today, thankfully no one was hurt. I think from reports it was not down to the frost but more down to lack of concentration. A question to finish... If it takes Darren that length of time to fix a puncture on a push bike, how long would it take him to change the wheels on a 40 fut'er. Rumour has it he was round all the houses looking to borrow an air wrench

Perhaps Bob, in the interest of health and safety, especially with the rapidly increasing numbers, it is time to consider another training day .... or two.... I am aware that some are keen to learn the cycling etiquette, and some, like myself ........how to avoid contact with the tarmac Maybe we could arrange something for January when the festive season is over and things are not so busy and demanding

A big thanks to Deek who organised the day, to Square one for the excellent Stew, althought I did have something else, very nice too!, but most of all to the at least 37 club members who came along on such a frosty morning. It was great to see not only our latest members, Sonia and Bernie but also one of the founding members Raymond Jess, returning for the craic. I feel we should have such a club run for all members at least twice a year.
As was said on one of the other posts, Dromara CC works with all cyclists in the club, supporting each type of event and hosting each to a high standard. As I said on Friday night at the dinner, I hope to improve the excellent Thursday night league with new both a youth and ladies competitions. Dromara CC will also be hoding the Irish Cross-Country MTB Championships in July 2009. Dromara now has a membership of eighty, I hope we can build on this in 2009, but still remain a focused club on the needs of all who enjoy cycling, no matter road racer, Mtb or leisure. I wish all of you a happy christmas and look forward to seeing many of you at the fourth Trail Quest at Brennan's Seaforde on Saturday 27th of December.
