Dave McCall Memorial Sportive
Maryland Wheelers, in association with John Hanna Cycles, Lisburn, are promoting the inaugural Dave McCall Memorial Sportive on Sunday September 27th 2009.
The sportive offers a choice of two routes, one of 130km and a shorter route of 80km.
130km route
Lisburn - Hillsborough - Dromara - Slieve Croob - Castlewellan - Newcastle - Dundrum (Lunch stop) - Clough - Killough - Ardglass - Strangford - Downpatrick (Second refreshment stop) - Ballynahinch - Annahilt - Lisburn
Note: The route combines Mountain and Coastal roads with two challenging climbs at Slieve Croob and Castlewellan
The first stop is early but comes after a hard 55km of hills and rolling roads. The second phase is scenic but also challenging along the Coast and over Drumlins.
The route is a great cycle but very challenging.
80km route
Lisburn - Hillsborough - Dromara - Slieve Croob - Castlewellan - Newcastle - Dundrum (Lunch stop) - Clough- Seaforde - Spa - Ballynahinch - Annahilt - Lisburn
Note: The route combines Mountain and rolling roads with two challenging climbs at Slieve Croob and Castlewellan.
The Sportive headquarters will be at Lisburn Recreation Centre, Warren Park with sign-on from 8.15am and riders starting between 9.00am and 9.30am
The entry fee for either ride is £15 with all proceeds going towards the Dave McCall Memorial Foundation, supporting Cycle sport in Ulster.
Lunch stop and refreshments are included as well as a commemorative certificate for all finishers
